Ruth Ann Gudgel, 92, of Fortville, IN, died on January 8, 2022. She was born on June 19, 1929 in Washington, IN, to Grover and Julia (Schubert) Clements. She graduated from Fortville High School Class in 1947. During the Korean War, Ruth Ann worked at Ft. Benjamin Harrison for the US Army in the Signal Corps Department. Ruth Ann worked as an insurance insurer and after 20 years of service retired as a personal line supervisor at Amerisure. She loved music and played the piano and organ for 80 years. She started playing in church at the age of 8. She was very active in teaching church to children and adults in Sunday School. She was an officer and organist for the Eden Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 101. She also enjoyed crocheting and was active in the Fortville Book Club.
She leaves behind her husband Denzel D. Gudgel, whom she married on August 14, 1949, her children Ronald (Teri) Gudgel, Cheryl Ann Patterson and Terri Lynn (Larry Fentz) Gudgel-Merchant; Grandson Michael David Trowbridge; and great-granddaughter Lily Gudgel. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Cory E. Gudgel.
The funeral will take place on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Seals Funeral Home, 122 W. State St., Fortville, IN. The pre-service tour starts at 12:00 p.m. She is buried in the Gravel Lawn Cemetery.
