Miriam Kay Shifley, 66, of Galion, died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
She was born on July 16, 1955 in Galion, the daughter of J. Richard and E. Gertrude (Sipes) Shifley.
She graduated from Northmor High School in 1973 and worked at Licking County Job and Family Services until she retired in 2014. Miriam was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ, where she was very active. She served as a deacon, member of the bell choir, the altar committee, and the Genesis Friends. Miriam was also a member of the Fairhaven Volunteer Service Group.
Miriam enjoys knitting, crossing and crocheting. She collected key rings and coffee mugs and enjoyed going to auctions where she could always find treasure. Miriam always enjoyed an Oak Ridge Boys concert, and family gatherings were especially important.
She leaves Brother William (Lynne) Shifley of rural Morrow County; Sisters Christine Coe of rural Morrow County and Martha (Gary) See of Galion; five nieces, Heidi (Gary) Repp from Galion, Angie (Jason) Moore from Mansfield, Beth (Dylan) Black from rural Morrow County, Bobbie (Cliff) Altman from Burbank, and Jodi (Johnny) Merry from Columbus; 12 great nieces and nephews, Parker, Katy, Brayden, Isaac, Trevor, Brooklyn, Alex, Emma, Leah, Henry, Brick and Kit; special friends, Todd Knight, Adair Pittman and neighbors Brennan (Sara) Stool and daughters and their beloved cat Dewey.
In addition to her parents, her sisters Karen Shifley and Patricia Shifley and nephew Randy See preceded her in death.
The family will be friends at the Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio on Thursday, January 6, 2022, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 44833, received one hour prior to the service, which will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West, Galion, Ohio 44833, under the direction of Pastor Millisa Harston, is held. The burial takes place in the Iberia Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to the First United Church of Christ Memorial Endowment Fund or the Fairhaven United Church Home Volunteer Service to support the funeral home.
