Janice Montgomery, 79, of Clinton, Iowa and formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on the evening of January 9, 2022 at the Prairie Hills Care Center in Clinton, Iowa.

Services for Janice will be held at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. A visit for family and friends takes place one hour before the services. Janice Irene Cox was born on September 27, 1942, to Samuel and Thelma (Morrow) Cox in Richland, Iowa. She attended Richland School and graduated in 1961. After high school, Janice began working as a bank clerk at Savings and Loan.

On January 6, 1968, she was married to the love of her life, Donald “Don” Montgomery, at Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they moved to Marshalltown. Don and Janice had their son Daniel and then she started doing her biggest job and taking care of her family.

She was a longtime member of the Green Mountain United Church of Christ, where she was involved in the women’s group and always made sure she received her monthly newsletters. In her spare time, she enjoyed a variety of craft projects such as sewing, where she made her own wedding dress, crochet, and ceramics. She loved doing what she grew in her gardens and took care of her flowers every year. She loved calling Dan and was always anxious to be the best mother and wife to look after her family.

She will remember her son Daniel (Catherine) Montgomery of Clinton, Iowa. her siblings Carolyn (Ed) Knoot, Daryl (Verla) Cox, and James Cox; next to numerous nieces and nephews.

Her husband Don preceded in death; her parents Samuel and Thelma Cox; and her siblings Kathryn Cox and David Cox.
